I repined a tape measure bracelet months ago, and just remembered I wanted to try making some myself. I was able to make 9 bracelets with one soft sewing tape measure.
I wish I could tell you who made the one I found on Pinterest but it's not linking to anything, and since it was something I repined from another persons board, I don't know the source. I see there are a few different styles of tape measure bracelets on Etsy too. I added some sewing inspired Tibetan silver charms to mine, I think they turned out great.

A tape measure bracelet would make a great gift for the seamstress in your life. It's also a nice reminder if you are trying to lose some pounds to "cut" out the junk food. Weather you wear it because you love to sew, want a reminder to eat healthy, or just love whimsical jewelry like myself, this is a super easy and fun bracelet to own. These bracelets will be coming with me to my craft show this July. If any are leftover from my show I will go ahead and add them to my Etsy shop.
I now have these available in 5 different colors in my Etsy shop TLC Creations. They have been one of my best sellers.

Materials Used:
2 folding ribbon clamps (I used 5/8 inch size)
1 lobster clasp
2 jump loops
flexible tape measure
1 scissor charm or sewing machine charm (optional)
Directions:
Cut your tape measure the desired length, around 6 1/2 to 7 inches should be fine, depending on your wrist size, and the size of clasp and loops you are using. Crimp down the folding clamps to secure your tape measure using your flat nose jewelry pliers. Add your jump loops, clasp, and charm using needle nose jewelry pliers.
Optional: add a tiny bit of jewelry glue e6000 to the ribbon clamps for extra durability, prior to clamping shut.
If you decide to make one, I would love to hear about it in a comment below. I would also like to know if you have been making anything seen on Pinterest lately?

That's very cute, but 6 or 7 inches is awfully small for most wrists. I would do 8 inches to be on the safe side.
ReplyDeleteMost bracelets are 7.25 inches long. Keep in mind the clasp and loops are going to add over an inch in length. You could always add extra loops if needed to extend size but once you clamp down your folding clamps its very hard to open them back up. I know I made one with 7 inches and once the loops were on it slid off my hand which is large. I have huge hands for a girl.
Deletelove this! thanks for sharing!

Nice idea. I never thought of having a tape measure bracelet. That is a cute idea. Your clasps look fine. I may add some glitter to the bracelet. Thinking of adding few beads ... Sure, a project for my upcoming blog posts.
